6235 Maine High School Show Choirs Perform In Houlton ME!
Maine high school show choirs, 35 of them, ventured with bus loads of students to perform, to compete in the state division one and two vocal contest held in Houlton Maine last weekend. From as far away as western Maine's Fryeburg to Mount Desert Island and up north to Woodland and everywhere in between, excited youth assembled to perfrom productions of "Jekyll and Hyde", "Spring Awakening", "13, The Musical", "Big River", "Mamma Mia", "Les Miserables", "My Fair Lady", "Oliver", "Alladdin" and many many more. In their division two competition, Mount Desert Island and Houlton placed first and second respectively. Sit back and watch the Maine State Show Choir Vocal Music video.

Nice pictures! I was in the MDI HS show choir in 2005 performing selections from Rent, and remember it quite well. Most of my family is up in the Houlton area, so I'm thinking of going up this year to see the show choirs this year. MDI's doing 'In the Heights' this year, and it's pretty great ^_^
Music is big in Houlton Maine. Singing in church, playing in McGill's Band and a large SAD 29 music program help.

I have always enjoyed these choir competitions as much as drum and bugle corps contests. Wish we could have one every month.
